Storm Walkers
My husband went to work today.
My dogs woke me up right afterward.
I let them out and curled up on my favorite chair and did reading and journaling.
I filled my journal with overwhelming things I can do absolutely nothing about.
I heard my foster daughter leave for school and said goodbye.
I talked to my daughter while she went to the coffee shop before her next class.
I text my sister.
Talked to my sister in law.
Dealt with the chaos of my energetic dog still trying to make friends with our cat.
And then I went for a walk with my dog Buddy. It started to sprinkle.
As we walked the rain came down a bit faster.
We got a bit soaked.
He seemed to enjoy it so I decided to enjoy it too!
It wasn't cold. Perfect temperature.
Very refreshing!
When we got home, I dried Buddy. Then I put a raincoat on Missy and I took her for a walk too.
The rain was thicker and a bit faster.
She didn't appreciate the raincoat, but ended up being a good sport about wearing it.
We had a good time.
Now, I am going to my job and working with my sister and my sister friend.
Even with the overwhelming things that are in my journal, there are good things in my life each day.
I am learning to focus on the good things while walking through storms.
Isn't that what Peter needed to focus on when he walked on the water, through the storm to Jesus.
When Peter looked at the storm he could no longer walk through the storm. He sank.
He called out for help and once he took hold of Jesus hand it enabled him to walk through the storm as Jesus held him.
The best thing me or you can do when the storm gets overwhelming is cry out for help from Jesus.
To not let that storm sink us. To let Jesus carry us through it.
Matthew 14:22-33
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
Another cool thing about this story - brought the others in the boat to a place of worship!
