He Is Our King
Last week my daughter was blessed to attend Kingdom
Rock VBX at a local church. She’d come home in the afternoon excited about all
she had done in VBX and couldn’t wait until the next day. She was very
disappointed when she wasn’t able to finish out the last two days due to a
virus that hit her stomach.
Yet, she was able to participate with the rest of
the group Sunday morning, as the children from the VBX at River of Life Church,
performed the songs and a little skit they had learned during the week.
The props were quite elaborate. The children looked
like they were sitting in a cartoon looking castle.
It was a delight to listen as they sang with such
joy and conviction all of the songs they had learned, and to watch them do
different motions to the music. When the group started to sing the song, Here is Our King…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDyxnMYX_LY…oh
my, I had one of those moments when the reality of who God is filled my being.
He is THE King.
The Bible says one day, every knee will bow, every
tongue will confess, that Jesus is LORD.
We have people who take positions as rulers
throughout the world and they are usually honored with respect and reverence.
We also have people who are put in the position of
an idol and its exciting just to be near them, we want to dress like them, act
like them, and read all about them.
I recently watched a reality show on a popular
singer and his group. They stepped out on a balcony and waved to their fans and
the crowd screamed in excitement. They stood there for a few minutes to make
their fans happy and then went back to what they were doing.
Their fans were happy! Some cried…took pictures…screamed…the
crowd loved just getting a glimpse at the rock stars.
My sister and I used to go to a LOT of concerts and
stay around to get autographs and talk with the members of the bands. We would
also go to the smaller venues where bands would play a small concert and then
do pictures and autographs.
It was something we loved to do. We loved meeting
musicians, speakers, radio announcers, BUT nothing compared to the day (I
couldn’t get off work) when my husband went and got an autograph for me from my
favorite singer ever…I couldn’t wait until he got to my office with pictures,
and the CD with an autograph…UNTIL…I got to meet this singer face to face
myself. Not only that…I got to attend the singer’s small concert in a bookstore
and then had a quick moment to talk to her face to face. (Okay, I completely nerded
out, but what do you say to someone you admire, but don’t know in just a few
minutes?)
I can still tell you clear details of that wonderful
afternoon. The songs, the stories, the wait in line, and what I said…well, I don’t
need to share that…anyway…people can become so important to us, whether we have
a relationship with them or not.
Just imagine receiving a letter from the Queen of England…you
open the envelope, and inside you find an invitation to live in the palace! A suite
is being designed just for you and when it is finished, you will be notified to
come and live in the palace.
While you are waiting the Queen wants to build a
relationship with you, and wants YOU to get to know her. Don’t you think letters, emails, and phone calls
would be happening all of the time? Don’t you think it would be exciting and
you’d probably talk about it a lot and want to get to know as much about her kingdom
as possible before you get there?
Well, even higher than any ruler or famous person in
this world, is the one who made us, the Creator, the King of the entire
universe, the Lord of Lords, and He wants a close relationship with US. The only one who we should bow to,
His Majesty, is calling us to Him.
Our King.
He doesn’t have armed guards to keep us from Him,
instead His angels guard over us. We don’t have to make an appointment, He wants
us to talk to Him without ceasing! He doesn’t just let us get a peek at Him, He
wants us to know Him more and more every day.
Our King, loves us, and teaches us, When He came to
earth, He washed feet, He served food, and most of all…He died for us so we could be WITH Him forever.
The true King…He loves His people so much.
Psalm 24:7-10
7Lift up your heads, you
gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
We don’t have to wait until that day comes when
every knee shall bow…every tongue confesses He is the Lord…No…we can live in
that reality today, bowing not only our knees, but our hearts to the King…Our
Majesty.
